I wrote SO MANY THINGS for my blog this year (65 posts) – more than I thought I was going to ever write on my blog! This past year, I think my word choice has improved A LOT.
I wanted to reflect about some of my favorite posts from 2017, but there are SO MANY! So, I decided to create a few different categories of posts to focus on.
Most Fun to Create:
- Boba Series
- I loved posting about the boba because I got to taste LOTS of boba tea. Also, it was lots of fun watching the dogs and Oli try the boba tea – I think they sort-of liked it!
- If You Can Read, You Can Cook?
- To write this post, I had to think of all the funny kitchen moments I’ve experienced. And every time I think of them I laugh and laugh! Also, some of the mistakes we made keep coming back to haunt us – like, DON’T EAT ESSENTIAL OILS!
Most Challenging to Create:
- Pig Scramble Posts
- This series was super hard to create because it felt NEVER ENDING!!! I spent 3 MONTHS writing and publishing Does Woodside Value The Pig Scramble? in The Almanac, then another 2 ½ months writing letters and making signs for the protest!
Most Comments: I included this section because I like reading your comments and it makes me feel happy that folks are actually reading the blog!
- Pig Scramble Protest – 15 comments
- How to Order Boba Tea to Perfection – 18 comments
- AAE: RIP Peanut – 18 comments
- Interview with Izzy – 14 comments
Looking ahead – post ideas for 2018:
- Dogs (behavior possibly)
- Oliver
- Short Stories
- Things that are going on in my life
What was your favorite post this year? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

My favorite post this year was the kitchen disasters one. I totally agree with you; it was so fun remembering the stories and sharing them. You should make a kitchen disasters volume 2 because I’m sure that we’ll have some more in 2018!

Hi Anna, it is hard to pick one blog. all of them were enjoyable and interesting. but the pig scramble stands out in my mind. the research and effort was intense. it not only had participation from your whole family but the whole community and then some. it was a work of love and concern for God’s little creatures. you were their voice. Good work!!!!!!love Grandma Natalie

Hi Anna,
Wow, what a year! I can’t pick just one favorite post, there were so many good ones. I loved the pig scramble article — your writing was clear, sophisticated and passionate. The Daphne series made me think a lot about how dog behaviors and reinvigorated our efforts to address all our quirky dogs’ behaviors. Your poetry always moves me — I’d like to see more of that in 2018 (please 🙂
Thanks for a great year of blogging. Keep it coming!

Anna
Belatedly, I wanted to say how proud I am of you — it’s quite a body of work, and I can see a clear progression in the level of thoughtfulness, clarity, and creativity in your writing. I also like the fact that you have taken on a wide range of topics, albeit with a fair degree of focus on our animal friends (but hey, they say “write what you know”). And perhaps most importantly, I like the fact that I learn something from each of your posts — your is an inquisitive mind, and that will serve you so well in life.
You’re a rock star.
