The Tea Study Post #5: The Results Are In!!!

After spending an eternity on graphing charts and finding averages, I’m excited to share with you my short write up of the results (even though you may not be excited anymore after reading some of them…)!

THE MORNING BASELINE DATA INDICATES THAT 30 MINUTES AFTER TAKING THE FIRST SURVEY WITHOUT DRINKING ANY TEA, PARTICIPANTS FELT:

  • 2% MORE RELAXED
  • 15 % MORE ENERGIZED
  • 17% LESS DROWSY
  • AND THEIR SENSE OF WELLBEING INCREASED BY 4%

To be clear, the results I’m reporting below  are taking into account the baseline data reported above. The chart only indicates the average results reported by participants after drinking peppermint tea and  lemon balm.

AFTER CONSUMING PEPPERMINT TEA, PARTICIPANTS FOUND THAT:

Peppermint tea contains Menthol which is a muscle relaxer that helps stave off stress.

⋅ THEY BECAME 1% MORE RELAXED

TESTERS FELT 3.7% LESS ENERGIZED

⋅ HELPERS REPORTED FEELING 8% LESS DROWSY

⋅ AND THEIR SENSE OF WELLBEING DECREASED 4.7% 🙁

AFTER CONSUMING LEMON BALM TEA, PARTICIPANTS REPORTED:

Lemon Balm tea helps reduce cortisol (a hormone caused by stress) and it makes people feel more relaxed without being drowsy.

  • FEELING 4% MORE RELAXED
  • FEELING 4% LESS ENERGIZED
  • BECOMING 12% MORE DROWSY
  • AND THEIR SENSE OF WELLBEING INCREASED BY 4%

THE NIGHT TIME BASELINE DATA INDICATES:

⋅ PARTICIPANTS BECAME 3% LESS RELAXED

⋅ THEY FELT 3% LESS ENERGIZED

THEY REPORTED FEELING 20% MORE DROWSY

AND THEIR SENSE OF WELLBEING DECREASED BY 9%

AFTER CONSUMING LAVENDER TEA, PARTICIPANTS REPORTED:

Inhaling lavender oil has shown to reduce anxiety, insomnia, and restlessness.

  • THEY FELT 14.8% MORE RELAXED
  • 4% LESS ENERGIZED
  • 14% LESS DROWSY
  • AND THEIR SENSE OF WELLBEING INCREASED BY 16%

AFTER CONSUMING CHAMOMILE TEA, PARTICIPANTS REPORTED THEY BECAME:

In Chamomile flowers there are compounds called flavonoids, that bind to receptors in the brain. Studies show that Chamomile has, “the ability to depress the central nervous system.” And that’s what makes Chamomile tea induce sleep!

3% MORE RELAXED

 ⋅ 3.7% LESS ENERGIZED

 ⋅ 18% LESS  DROWSY

AND THEIR SENSE OF WELLBEING INCREASED BY 10%

Thank you to everyone who participated in this study!

Stay tuned for the final conclusion/write up of this experiment!

I think I’m going to start drinking more Lemon Balm tea. It seems the best bet for feeling more relaxed with a greater sense of well being. And it tastes good too! Very interesting results.
