Looking Forward, Looking Back – A Reflection on My Past Year of Writing

It feels like this year has been going on forever! I have wrote over 40 pages of writing this “school year” (not including all 53 letters I wrote), which to me seems a lot.  The pieces, Three Ways to Help Improve the Health of our Ocean and Does Woodside Value the Pig Scramble are the ones that exceeded my expectations and  they are the writing that I’m most proud of.

Working on Three Ways to Help Improve our Oceans took a long time  to finish and because of that, it got a bit tedious at points. But in the end, the article was 5 pages long, and it was in way more depth then I thought it would be.

I’m proudest of  my editorial Does Woodside Value the Pig Scramble  because it was published in the Almanac (a local NEWSPAPER!). It was my first publication ever and a lot of people read it, agreed with me, and from what I can gather enjoyed it (except for the Mounted Patrol 🙂 )!

When I started writing this year, my ideas weren’t fully developed in any of my projects. Also, there were a lot of structural problems in the text, and I didn’t even use any cool fonts (something must have been wrong with me)!

Over the past year, I’ve not been writing in circles as much because my organization is successful. My writing has better word choice and it’s not always organized chronologically. In my opinion first, then, next, after that, finally  writing is boring.

I need to work on being concise in my writing while not taking 3 hours to do so. But overall, I’m impressed with the progress I made! 🙂

That really is A LOT of writing!
I hope you had fun writing all of these pieces and enjoyed it. I can definitely relate to having trouble organizing my writing. Wen I write research papers for School, I always have trouble with Organization.
I definitely agree that “The Pig Scramble” article is something you should be proud of.
    Love,
    Isabella

I am very, very proud of you, Anna. Your writing is definitely coming along and, like most things, is something that you will (and should) spend a lifetime continuing to hone. Think of it as a labor of love, which it should be if you love writing.

    Hi Anna,

I think your work on the Pig Scramble pieces shows a lot of growth! I really appreciate how you continue to lay out the issue in ways that are factual, thought provoking, and passionate.

I also have really loved your book reviews. I love the way you use different art projects and writing techniques to highlight the wonderful books you read this year. Please keep the book reviews coming!

    Hi Anna!
I love your writing! Your pieces are creative, passionate, and informative. Like your mom, the highlights for me were the pig scramble series (very proud of your publication) and the book reviews. You have a wonderful ability to express your thoughts and draw your reader in at the same time. Keep up the good work!
